The Sheridan Arts Foundation and Its Young People’s Theater

Since 2018, Kimberly Hranicky has served clients through Kim Hranicky Interiors, LLC, an interior design and home renovation company based in Houston. Outside of her professional pursuits, Kimberly Hranicky enjoys outdoor activities and attending concerts, plays, and other arts events. She also works to give back by supporting organizations such as the Sheridan Arts Foundation.

For nearly three decades, the Sheridan Arts Foundation (SAF) has been promoting and supporting a thriving arts community in Telluride, Colorado. In addition to undertaking ongoing restoration and preservation efforts on the Sheridan Opera House, the group brings in quality arts and cultural programming for Telluride residents and provides community education through programs such as the SAF Young People’s Theater.

Each year, over 250 youth aged 2 to 18 take part in the SAF Young People’s Theater, which first launched in 1999. Under the guidance of Artistic Director Leah Heidenreich, the program builds teamwork, self-confidence, and communication skills through live theater and arts education.

Ms. Heidenreich and her team observe a child-centered approach to learning, ensuring that activities are noncompetitive and focused on creative and cognitive growth. SAF Young People’s Theater participants take part in a variety of classes throughout the year. The program also presents three full-length musicals that give participants the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

To make the program more accessible to Telluride youth, SAF subsidizes all tuition prices and provides scholarships to those in need. Since the program’s launch, the foundation has awarded over $144,000 to Young People’s Theater participants. The scholarships and theater activities are supported in large part by individual and organizational donors.

Kimberly Hranicky holds an MBA in international business from the American Graduate School of International Management, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Southern Methodist University. In addition to operating her own Houston-based interior design firm, Kimberly Hranicky supports charitable organizations such as the Women for Orphans Worldwide.

Women for Orphans Worldwide (WOW) is an auxiliary branch of Orphan Outreach, which for more than two decades has worked closely with local organizations to provide education, food, and medical care for more than 7,000 children worldwide. In addition to operating a sponsorship program to provide financial support for these orphans, Orphan Outreach provides school supplies and backpacks that enable them to pursue education.

Orphan Outreach’s Mission Backpack collects donations of $24, which pay for a backpack full of school supplies such as pens, pencils, notebooks, and more, to be distributed through local agencies. Receiving an education is the single most important factor in lifting orphans and other vulnerable populations out of poverty, and beginning the school year with appropriate supplies provides a powerful boost to their confidence.
