The owner of a small interior design and home-flipping business in Houston, Texas, Kimberly Hranicky enjoys recreational trips to ski, bike, and hike in Telluride, Colorado. Kimberly Hranicky is also a supporter of Telluride’s Sheridan Arts Foundation.
Presenting live events and sponsoring arts education programs for roughly three decades, the Sheridan Arts Foundation operates out of the historic Sheridan Opera House. Located on North Oak Street in the heart of downtown Telluride, the Sheridan Opera House dates back to 1913, when New Sheridan Hotel manager J.A. Segerberg constructed it to serve as both a cultural center and vaudeville theater.
The theater operated for several decades as the Segerberg Opera House before the policies of the Prohibition Era forced it to close. It sat unused until 1960, when it opened once again and assumed the name Sheridan Opera House.
When commercial development threatened the theater in the early 1990s, Sandra and Keith Carradine established the Sheridan Arts Foundation to save it from demolition. To date, the foundation has devoted more than $2.2 million to restore the building to its original glory. With the help of organizations such as the Colorado State Historic Fund and the town of Telluride, the Sheridan Arts Foundation completed its renovations in 2019.
